Dept.26 ride guide 2013

Welcome to the Dept.26 ride guide! The SW has so many great spots to ride now and there is more cropping up all the time. There is also now a dedicated page where this guide will stay and i'll keep adding to it. The pages are up above in that black bar.

Bude - Home to Dept.26. Theres tons to ride around the Bude area, we have jumps, DH tracks and an endless amount of trail riding. Pop along on a Wednesday night at 7pm or a Saturday morning at 7.30am for a ride. Heres some vids of  Bude area riding...

Not too far away we have Gawton and Tavi woods, DH only and a hell of a lot of fun! There is also the jumps in Tavistock as well.

Down towards Bodmin there is the newly opened Cardinham woods, a brilliant 12km loop Blue trail with red sections.

Head over to the Wadebridge area for some DH action at Grogley and some trail riding at Hustyns.

Over Lansen way theres an awesome spot, good luck finding her though!

In the Redruth area there is the amazing Poldice valley, something to challenge everybody here. Then there is 'The Track' on the road to Portreath. Hell of a place!

A bit further down on the outskirts of St.Ives there is a spot call Rosewall. If you want a rocky, nasty challenge this is the place! The vid shows the easy trail, "swoopy"

Heading back up north of Bude will get you to SW Extreme - A national 4X venue which also has some great north shore stuff and some jumps.

Bodmin moor and Dartmoor are also home to plenty of little gems. Heres a vid from Dartmoor.

There is a brand new 4X track in Falmouth. Looks amazing!

Theres some great riding to be had in the Exeter area at Haldon forest. There is also tons of riding in the Plymouth area..... So, plenty to be getting on with then!

Lundy is also probably getting a new DH centre soon as well.

The final round of the Woodland riders winter series is happening on the 21st of April. I will soon be commencing an intense, high pressure campaign on facebook to try and get some more Dept.26 riders to enter. See here for details -

Annoyingly, on the same day (21st April) a brand new 4x track in Falmouth is hosting the second round of the national series. Obviously its not annoying that another new SW riding venue is opening, its great news! Like I said, things are kicking off right now! See here for more info -

Neither of the pictures below accurately represent 4X racing.

Some new little trails happening locally as well. good work Captain Sampson, the rainbow route is coming on nicely! Dangerous Damo is also hard at work on the 20 second route. Anybody else fancy a bit of shovel work? Theres a pot of gold in it for you.

..................................................................................................................................................................

Cardinham woods is fully open now. The full loop is 12km and is proper good fun! Savage beast of a climb up to the top of 'Hells Teeth' though. Heres a vid from Mr Bunts. His vid starts at the top of it so Im guessing he walked up the steep bit and was too embarrassed to show it in his vid. I rode all the way up to the top, twice. Honest.

................................................................................................................................................................

Thats it for now. Have Apriliant month.

Recommendation of the week...

Again, it has to be "Always wear a helmet!" Watch until the end to find out why! This is an edit from my recent snowboarding trip to Val d'isere and Tignes. I know its not about bikes, Im just using the "wear a helmet" angle as an excuse to put it on here! Complaints in the comments below!
